JCI SANTA CLARITA LAUNCHES RANDOM ACTS OF KINDNESS CHALLENGE!
The Santa Clarita Valley chapter of Junior Chamber International “The Jaycees” is challenging the Santa Clarita Valley Community to help perform Random Acts of Kindness in October. October is National Positive Attitude Month and National Emotional Wellness Month. Research shows that volunteering and helping others helps our own emotional wellbeing.
JCI Santa Clarita is bringing businesses and non profits together by setting up donation centers where the public can donate items that local non profits need. The Jaycees held a successful donation drive earlier in 2019 for Bridge to Home and wish to replicate that on a larger scale. The project will see JCI members work with a non profit on that non profits needs and then work with a local business to act as a donation center. Members will promote their non profit on social media and work with the sponsoring business to help get donations.
Local businesses that have already joined the project include: Santa Clarita Magazine, SCVTV, Henry Rodriguez @ State Farm Insurance, SCV Book Exchange, Henry Mayo Health and Fitness Center, The Karla Law Firm, Gymnastic Unlimited, LBW Insurance and Financial Services, Gloria’s Uniforms and Imac Med Spa. In addition, JCI Santa Clarita and The Santa Clarita Magazine will as part of their SCV 40 Under Forty Awards be challenging 40 Under Forty Winners to perform their own Random Acts of Kindness. This could range from volunteering at a community event, to fundraising, to even helping someone with their shopping! The list is endless!
The Jaycees are planning to organize volunteer opportunities for young professionals throughout October, particularly on October 22nd is Make A Difference Day. There is a further oppprtunity for the community to get involve as JCI Santa Clarita supports Circle of Hope in October by attending their community pint night at Wolf Creek Brewery on October 29th from 6pm. The Jaycees will be collecting items for cancer patients as well as gift cards and monetary donations for Circle of Hope.
